Master the slide crossover side step with aggressive snatches and big slides to shift defenders, creating space for a quick shot.
The drill
Big slide to cover space → aggressive snatch crossover → side step to get away from defender and shoot.
Let's break down one of my favorite moves, the slide, crossover, side step. Step one is our slide. Place a cone about 3 ft away from your starting point. We want to get a really big slide, cover space and get outside our defenders frame. Step two is our crossover. We want to be able to snatch aggressively to shift our defender. The final step is our side step. just enough space to get away from our defender and get our shot off. Putting it all together, it will look like this. Slide, cross over, side step.
Is this drill for you?
For intermediate scorers (Level 3) mastering the slide, crossover, side-step sequence for shot creation.
Variations: Per the trainer: big slide, aggressive snatch, side-step just enough to get the shot off.
In a game: Slide out of the defender's frame, snatch the crossover, side-step - three separations stacked into one move.
Needs a cone and a hoop.
