Master the Float Cross with a progressive three-step drill, building rhythm, balance, and footwork for ultimate shiftiness.

Drill 1 of 3

Float Cross - Step 1: Stationary

5 min · 30 reps

Dribble right hand → stationary crossover to left hand, maintaining a wide stance.

Drill 2 of 3

Float Cross - Step 2: Hop Cross

5 min · 25 reps

Dribble right hand → crossover to left hand with a small left foot hop, landing wide.

Drill 3 of 3

Float Cross - Final Step: Full Move

5 min · 20 reps

Dribble right hand → crossover to left hand with a large left foot float step → drive forward.

Is this drill for you?

For intermediate handlers (Level 3) who already own a crossover and want to add the float - a hanging crossover with a big outside step that sells the drive - no hoop or partner needed.

Trains: ball-handling · footwork · change of direction · balance · first-step speed

The ladder: Stationary float cross first, then a hop cross, then the full move with a big float step into a drive.

Variations: Three step sizes: stationary, hop, full float step.

In a game: The float crossover hangs the ball a beat longer so the defender commits before you drive - the separation move you use at the top of the key or in transition.

Loud dribbling; the full move needs room to drive forward.
