Let's break down one of my favorite sneaky moves, the in-and-out dribble. Step one for the in-and-out is our feet. We have to be able to sell one direction to shift our defender. I like to use a line, you can use the free throw line like this. All we're going to do is work on sticking our foot and dribbling at the same time, in and out, over and back on this line to really sell with our foot. Step two to the in-and-out is the actual in-and-out of our dribble. This takes ball control and being able to circle the ball. We don't want it to be really high, just a quick tight in-and-out dribble is all you need. To work on this in place just really quickly and tight try and circle and whip the ball. We're not trying to carry the ball, get under it. It's just a quick tight in-and-out dribble with our hand and our wrist. Now, let's put those two together. We're going to step with our foot and take our in-and-out dribble together. In and out. Dribble. Sell with your eyes. Be deceptive. Look slightly to where you want your defender to shift to. Also use your shoulders to help you sell this move better. A little bit of a shoulder is going to help you blow by.

Is this drill for you?

For novice ballhandlers (Level 2) learning the in-and-out - footwork sell on a line, tight wrist dribble, then the full-body fake.

Trains: ball-handling · change of direction · footwork · first-step speed

The ladder: Footwork sell on the line first, then the tight in-place dribble, then the full combo with eyes and shoulders.

Variations: Sell with foot, eyes, and shoulders together.

In a game: The in-and-out shows a crossover and takes it back - the defender opens a lane that was never there.

15 minutes.
