The drill

Connected Weight Shift Dribble

5 min · 45 reps

Continuously shift body weight side-to-side while dribbling on the shifted side, maintaining connection with spacing between your shoulders and feet

Transcript
I want you to really shift your weight when you're going, so bounce, over. Bounce, over. Bounce, over, this way. One, two, cause if you're here, now we can't really shift. You know what I'm saying? So get it here, over. One, two, all connected. One, two, one, two, one, two, one, two. Yep, keep going, keep going, keep it all connected.

Is this drill for you?

For intermediate ballhandlers (Level 3) who can already dribble on the move and want their weight shift and dribble connected into one motion - no hoop, no partner, small space.

Trains: body control · balance · rhythm · ball-handling · lateral quickness

Variations: Side-to-side direction; 45 continuous reps.

In a game: A connected weight shift is what sells a crossover - defenders bite on your shoulders, and this builds the body-ball sync that makes the fake real.

Constant dribbling noise on hard floors.
