Develop elite shiftiness and balance through these three low-dribble drills, mastering body control to create space and attack defenders.
Drill 1 of 3
Assume a wide, low stance → crossover dribble and touch opposite cone with free hand -> repeat. Focus on shifting weight side to side.
Drill 2 of 3
Assume a wide, low stance → crossover dribble while sliding and touch opposite cone with free hand -> repeat. Focus on shifting weight side to side.
Drill 3 of 3
Assume a wide, low stance → cross + BTL + cross _> touch same side cone with free hand. Focus on shifting weight side to side.
You got to understand that the most important thing about ball handling isn't this. It's this right here. If you want to learn how to move better and shift better, here are three drills.
Is this drill for you?
For intermediate ballhandlers (Level 3) who know the moves but do not shift anyone - three cone-touch drills that train weight shift over hand speed - cones required.
The ladder: Crossover with opposite cone touch first, then slide-cross touch, then cross-between-the-legs-cross with same-side touch.
Variations: Both directions on every drill.
In a game: Moving your body is what actually moves a defender - this builds the weight shift that makes every move in your bag work.
Needs two cones; the wide low stance is the point, not a shortcut.
