Transcript
Let's break down one of my favorite sneaky moves, the double jab. Step one, land on two feet. You can just toss to yourself and practice your jump stop off two. Ball in your shot pocket, jump stop, low to the ground. Step two is our body shift. Our body is going to shift right as if we're jabbing to go right, normal for our layup. Practice that body shift. Just toss, shift. A slight move of the ball is all you need. Doesn't have to be crazy. Keep it nice and tight and strong, connected to your body, but just enough to shift your defender. Step three is our second body shift. After our first body shift, we're going to come back and shift again the other way. This fake is just quick and tight. 1, 2. Step four, we're going to put it all together. In your head, have a rhythm. 2 ft, 1, 2, 3. That's your rhythm. 1, 2, 3. The last pro tip is that a small shift of your eyes is going to really sell your defender. On my second body jab, if my eyes slightly look that way, my defender's going to go that way, too. So really work on timing your eyes with your body shifts.

Is this drill for you?

For novice scorers (Level 2) learning the double jab - jump stop, body shift right, shift back, with the eye fake that sells it.

Trains: footwork · body control · first-step speed · decision-making

Variations: Same sequence from both sides; eyes with the second jab.

In a game: Two quick shifts move the defender twice - the second shift is the one they cannot recover from.

5 minutes.

← Easier: Explosive Jab-Step Footwork
