This intense drill builds shiftiness and rhythm by challenging players to execute quick, low 'pop' dribbles, progressing from 3 to 4 counts, before a sharp crossover and attacking downhill.
The drill
hit a quick crossover --> BTL--> shift to other side --> repeat.
right hand start here. Pop, pop, pop. I want over. 1 2 3 over. Pop, pop, pop. 1 2 3. 1 2 3. Now we're over. So we're going to hit three of them or we're going to hit 1 2 3 4. After this fourth one, when you cross, I want you attack
Is this drill for you?
For advanced guards (Level 4) who already have a quick crossover and between-the-legs and want to combine them with a hard shift to the other side - no hoop or partner needed.
In a game: Quick cross into a between-the-legs shift is a shifty-guard staple for keeping a defender off balance in isolation - this builds the twitch to change direction twice in one action.
Loud, rapid dribbling; needs clear floor space. Too advanced for beginners.
